Our Values

Our IDENTITY is Rooted in Christ & His Word

We believe that our true identity and value is found in Jesus. Jesus has created each of us uniquely and fully, and there is nothing we can do to make him love us any more and nothin we can do to make him love us any less. The world would have us find our identity in things that fade: money, accomplishments, the praises of others, however, what the Bible tells us abou thow Jesus sees us should define how we see ourselves and interact with others.

2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!

We Embrace the MESSINESS of Authentic Relationships

Community can be difficult. When a person offends us or disagrees with a strongly held viewpoint, there can be tension and discomfort. Christians unite under the banner of God’s love and salvation. Authenticity is the way of Christian community and relationships; fun and forgiveness.

Proverbs 27:17 – Iron sharpens iron, and one person sharpens another.

We ASK Questions

This is a safe place for the spiritually curious. We want everyone to be comfortable asking questions and having conversations about hard topics. We are all on our own faith journey, and no question is too big or too small for Jesus. This is a growing community seeking to follow Jesus faithfully and Learning together how to do that in our everyday lives.

Luke 7:20 – When the men reached him, they said, “John the Baptist sent us to ask you, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?’”

We are INTENTIONALLY Welcoming

God calls us to work intentionally to welcome the stranger in our midst. We look for ways to sacrifice our own comforts for others. Jesus demonstrated this to us by emptying himself to be born in the form of a man; by consistently seeking the “lower seat,” we lift others up and promote them. Our community is a place for anyone on a faith journey to feel comfortable, welcome, loved, and encouraged.

Romans 15:7 – Therefore welcome one another, just as Christ also welcomed you, to the glory of God.

We EQUIP for Kingdom Action

Jesus has called the Church to bring reconciliation to the whole world. Every individual has a unique combination of gifts and personality that have never exited in another person. Your gifts and skills were given to you so that the world can be better. We are not simply consumers of God’s grace; we bring the love & peace of Jesus everywhere that we go. We equip and teach our community to view themselves as emissaries of God.

Luke 10:2-3 – He told them, “The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest. Now go; I’m sending you out like lambs among wolves.

Our Team

What We Believe

Mountainview Community Church desired to help all people Discover the Love & Peace of Jesus, Develop their God-Given Gifts, & to Deploy into a life of Kingdom Service. The message of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation is that everything is all about Jesus! These are our core beliefs about God and the World as revealed in the Bible.

About God

We believe there is only one, true, living God; creator, sustainer, and ruler of all. One in essence, yet existing in three persons, the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, & the Holy Spirit, each fully God yet harmoniously distinct in their work.

About Salvation & the Gospel

We believe that God created humanity in his own image and intended for humankind to live in harmony with him forever. However, the first humans sinned and brought physical, spiritual, and eternal death onto all people; condemned to eternal separation of God the Father. Out of an abundance of love for us, God the Father send his only Son, Jesus, to live a sinless life, die a sacrificial death, and be raised bodily from the dead.

We believe that new life in Christ, free from the guilt and condemnation of sin, is available to any person who believes that Jesus alone can rescue from sin and death, and reconcile us back to God the Father. That the Holy Spirit will indwell their entire self and regenerate them into a new creation.

About the Scriptures

We believe the 66 book bible is the inspired word of God and has authority over every area of our lives. That the original manuscripts were written under the inspiration and instruction of the Holy Spirit and are without error; to be believed, obeyed, and embraced in all that it promises and teaches about God’s best for our lives.

About the Church & the Sacraments

We believe that the church was instituted by God and sent into the world to be ambassadors of Jesus and the Kingdom of God. That the mission of the church is to speak the gospel of Jesus Christ to the whole world, discipling them to follow the teachings of Jesus, and baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit.

We believe that the church is the community of all believers which have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and faith in Jesus Christ. That we are to bring light into all the world; neither withdrawing in seclusion from the world, nor becoming indistinguishable from it.

Jesus instituted two sacraments to teach the grace of God: Baptism and Communion. Baptism is the sign of the new covenant in Jesus, symbolizing the washing away of our sins through death and resurrection in Jesus Christ. Communion is the partaking of the bread and the cup, a remembrance of Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross.

About the Christian Life & our Enemy

We believe the Christian can and should live a Holy life for God’s glory. The Christian should be a faithful steward of all that God gives them and live as a disciple of Jesus, following his teachings as preserved by the Church and passed along in the Scriptures. The Christian should make new disciples of Jesus as they grow in the love of Jesus for all people.

We believe that God instituted marriage in the Old Testament and Jesus Christ reaffirmed it in the New Testament as a lifelong covenant relationship between one natural-born man and one natural-born woman. That sexuality is to be expressed and enjoyed as a good gift from God only within the covenant of marriage.

We believe that satan roams the earth to steal, kill, and destroy; that satan goes before the throne of the Father to make accusations against us and seeking to undo every good work of God. He will be thrown into the lake of fire for all eternity when Jesus returns to establish his eternal kingdom on earth.

About the End of All Things

We believe that Jesus Christ will physically return to the earth to establish an eternal kingdom, dispose of all evil, and restore all things. After this, there will be a great and final seperation of all people; those who believe the gospel to enjoy eternity in the presence and harmony of the triune God, and those that do not believe the gospel to eternal separation from God.
